How Find My Booster works
Find My Booster ranks Magic: The Gathering booster packs and Commander precons by how many of your wanted card names you can actually get from each product. Here is exactly how it decides.
1. What you paste
Paste a plain list of card names, one per line. Deck-list lines with quantities and set codes work too — for example 1 Sol Ring (CMM) 396 or 7 Forest. Moxfield-style and Archidekt-style exports are fine.
2. How names are normalized
- leading quantities, set codes and collector numbers are stripped, leaving the card name;
- matching is by card name and is case-insensitive;
- duplicate names are collapsed, so a card counts once;
- quantities are ignored in the current ranking — wanting four of a card ranks the same as wanting one.
3. What a match means

4. How ranking and ties work
Boosters are ranked by the number of unique wanted card names the pack can provide, most first. Ties are broken by the newer release, then by name.
Commander decks are ranked by how many of your wanted cards the deck is guaranteed to contain, most first. Ties are broken by deck-relative coverage — matched cards as a share of that deck’s own unique card count — then by the newer release, then by name. So on an equal match count, the deck where those matches make up a larger share of its own unique card names ranks higher.
5. What’s supported
Scope starts at Murders at Karlov Manor (February 2024) and runs forward. Supported products are standard English Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, plus sealed Commander preconstructed decks for releases that ship a complete official Wizards decklist. The current list is on the supported sets page. If a booster’s pool can’t be completely proven from Wizards’ evidence, the whole product is left out rather than shipped with a knowingly incomplete card pool.
6. Where the data comes from
Wizards of the Coast is authoritative for what each booster physically contains; booster composition is verified against Wizards product information. Commander decklists are compiled from MTGJSON/Scryfall data that references the official Wizards decklists. Scryfall supplies machine-readable card identity and printing metadata only. A card name matches a booster when Wizards’ slot descriptions prove at least one printing of it can intentionally appear in that exact product.
7. What it deliberately does not do
- no prices, market values or investment advice;
- no live stock or availability;
- no pull odds or probabilities — a match tells you a card is obtainable, not how likely it is.
Buying singles is usually the sensible way to get specific cards. Find My Booster is for when you’re cracking packs or buying a precon anyway.
8. Freshness
New releases are added after Wizards publishes the product’s slot composition, following the site’s audited catalogue process. Card identity metadata is refreshed from Scryfall as a reviewable data update, not silently.
